Training
Training:
Fugro's acknowledgment that its employees are its most important asset has led to the creation of the Fugro Academy.
This has been specifically designed to provide requisite training where and when it is required. It accumulates all
technical training for the division into one area of responsibility, and delivers multi-modal training in classroom,
distance and intranet-based formats.
Fugro Academy:
As a large multinational organisation with an extensive workforce Fugro has been involved in training bases around
the world for a long time. The establishment of the Fugro Academy transpired in 2005 and was able to build on a very
solid foundation of learning.
The current courses from the Fugro Academy are geared towards offering training and development to our staff in a range
of both technical and interpersonal skills. This ensures all employees are equipped with the knowledge and ability to
tackle the day to day duties, as well as the more anomalous projects that we undertake across the globe.
ROV Faculty:
The ROV Faculty of the Fugro Academy is accretive to that which already exists, both within Fugro Corporation and the
Academy itself. It is headed by an "ROV Course Principal" who performs multi functional roles in the development,
delivery and organisation of the ROV related course work in turn merging the interpersonal skills courses. The course
principal will also work with the other trainers of the Academy to develop cross discipline approaches where necessary.
The ROV Faculty prepare and deliver integrated courses for both trainee (induction) and experienced (supervisory)
personnel, which satisfies both the regulatory and CPD criteria objectives. Fugro are always looking to cater for the
rising demands of tomorrow's technology within the ROV sector. Therefore high-tech training for employees is provided
with Fugro's ownership and use of both simple ROV Simulators for Pilot training and Advanced Simulation Technology.
These are engineering tools for desktop planning, mission planning, mission rehearsal, etc. furthermore; the ROV Faculty
has access to fully operational ROV Systems on an as-required basis to conduct hands-on training in piloting, operations
and maintenance.
At this present time there are over 600 ROV personnel currently with access to the ROV Faculty. But to satisfy the strategic
ambitions of the ROV Business Lines this will grow by at least 150 during 2008. The growth in numbers will be met by a
suitable mix of new trainees and recruiting of experienced personnel, all of whom will pass through the ROV Faculty at some
stage of their career with Fugro.
The ROV Faculty is based at Fugro-Rovtech in Aberdeen, where new training rooms and facilities opened in early 2007. The
facilities include the simple ROV Simulator, which is air transportable to allow ease of delivery to other areas of the Fugro
ROV world.
